SOULCARD READING SESSIONS:
A FREEING, ENLIGHTENING & EMPOWERING EXPERIENCE.

I have a deck of cards called Soulcards
(created by Deborah Koff-Chapin, a genius of an artist),
which I use to look into people brave enough to sit in front of me and be told off.
I tell them what I see of them, who they are at the moment,
who they may have been before,
what they have now in terms of personal problems & agendas that could be of help,
and what may happen later in the foggy future.
I've been called a fortune teller (my most abhorred of titles),
diviner, soul soother, soul reader.
I don't like to think of myself as any of those things, really -
I just look at a person, and start reading them.

That's what I do, Mondays to Fridays, til I'm done with my last client.
The past few months have proven difficult
for walk-in prospective clients to be accommodated,
simply because a lot of people ask for readings in advance.

I love what I do.
I've met the most illuminating, intelligent, uplifting people through what I do.
I have a definite way with words, thanks to my voracious reading habits,
and I make great use of my vocabulary.
I need to be facile with the language in order to put across in the most apt words
what I see of the person I'm reading, in order for them to understand.
I've succeeded on the most part, and with those I sweat blood over in the trying,
I still feel a sense of vindication in knowing I tried,
in the most desperate of measures,
sometimes,
to tell them what I meant.

It's a tough process, always.
The most beautiful aspect of what I do
is the opportunity for introduction to a multitude of characters that this allows me.
I would never have been able to have in my circle of friends
those I list as such had it not been for my readings.
Another reason why I can never leave this
is because of my curious nature.

Every person in this world has his own singular story to tell,
and most of the time it's a fascinating, eye-popping, breath-catching tale.
I get a chance to go front seat each time,
and then,
at the most crucial part in his present life,
I'm invited to jump in & steer the boat, so to speak.

There was a time when I was verily hesitant to take the tiller,
but the invitation was honestly given,
with some of them acts of ultimate desperation -
and again, who am I to say no?

So I learn the story,
the tale alive before my eyes,
and at one point I am part of it.

Exhilirating, exhausting, emotionally draining, empowering, and ultimately educational.
This happens Every Single Time, and it's a journey incomparable.

Look Here For Inspiration (tales, tips, tricks, & truth from all over the Internet!)

~~~~~~~~
Little reminders and suggestions on how to live a happy and rewarding life:
.
* Watch a sunrise at least once a year.
* Treat everyone you meet like you want to be treated.
* Never give up on anybody. Miracles happen every day.
* Don't waste time learning the "tricks of the trade." Instead, learn the trade.
* Hug children after you discipline them.
* Give to charity all the clothes you haven't worn duing the past three years.
* Choose your life's mate carefully. From this one decision will come ninety percent of all your happiness or misery.
* Think big thoughts, but relish small pleasures.
* Learn to listen. Opportunity sometimes knocks very softly.
* Never deprive someone of hope; it might be all they have.
* Skip one meal a week and give what you would have spent to a street person.
* Strive for excellence, not perfection.
* Take time to smell the roses.
* Never cut what can be untied.
* Lie on your back and look at the stars.
* Leave everything a little better than you found it.
* Remember that a successful marriage depends on two things: (1) finding the right person and
(2) being the right person.
* Street musicians are a treasure. Stop for a moment and listen; then leave a small donation.
* Focus on making things better, not bigger.
* Select a doctor your own age so that you can grow old together.
* Tape record your parent's laughter.
* Send your loved one flowers. Think of a reason later.
* Never admit at work that you're tired, angry, or bored.
* Cherish your children for what they are, not for what you'd like them to be.
* Don't postpone joy.
*Remember: No one can make you feel inferior without your permission.
*Do not think that the knowledge you presently possess is changeless, absolute truth. Avoid being narrow-minded and bound to present views. Learn and practice non-attachment from views in order to be open to receive others' viewpoints. Truth is found in life and not merely in conceptual knowledge. Be ready to learn throughout our entire life and to observe reality in yourself and in the world at all times. [Doctrine by Thich Nhat Hanh (pronounced Tick-Naught-Han), a Vietnamese Buddhist monk. During the war in Vietnam, he worked tirelessly for reconciliation between North and South Vietnam. His lifelong efforts to generate peace moved Martin Luther King, Jr. to nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1967. He lives in exile in a small community in France where he teaches, writes, gardens, and works to help refugees worldwide. He has conducted many mindfulness retreats in Europe and North America helping veterans, children, environmentalists, psychotherapists, artists and many thousands of individuals seeking peace in their hearts, and in their world.]
ALL ABOUT BAGUIO
Tips, tricks of the traveler's trade page on my favorite city of all:
1. the best pizza EVER!!!
(Ayuyang Restaurant
Baden Powell Inn,
Gov. Pack Road,
next to Dagupan Bus Terminal)
2. the best rock&roll live-band experience
(again, to be found nightly at
Ayuyang Restaurant)
3. the best Hototai soup at P90 (serves 6 people!)
(Good Taste Restaurant
-open 24 hours-
behind Centermall
Magsaysay Road)
4. the best silver jewelry deal
(text me for info of this one, it's rather complicated to find, but worth it!)
5. the best dormitory-room rate deal
(P400 per person,
Baden Powell Inn,
Gov. Pack Road,
next to Dagupan Bus Terminal)
6. When taking the bus going up, opt for the 10pm to 11:30pm trips instead of the midnight, 12:30am, or 1am trips,
which are usually the ones that get overly crowded. Victory Liner now offers the Express Trips to Baguio, P500 for a seat on a bus with a comfort room on it, and the trip is 4 hours fast.
7. Victory Liner (tel. # 833-0293 for the Pasay Terminal, 727-4688 for the Cubao terminal) current ticket cost for Cubao to Baguio is P380, and they offer a Deluxe trip (current ticket cost around P500), the perks of which are the following: maximum 29-person seating capacity luxury bus with on-board comfort room, no stop-overs during the trip which makes it faster over-all (4 hours travel time as opposed to the normal 5 & 1/2 to 6-hour travel time period on a normal trip)
while Dagupan Bus Lines (tel. # 727-2330 for the Cubao terminal) current ticket cost is P374.
ENJOY!
(This post has NOTHING to do with my Soulcardreading, but has everything to do with why going to the beach was never a priority for me or the husband this past summer. For those who pestered me about it, here's why:)
I hate sharks. I've never seen one up close, or swam deep enough in any sea to be even a mile shy of one, but I hate them. This passionate emotion that I've had all my thinking life I attribute solely to an unfortunate viewing at a tender toddler age of that ubiquitous & sadly misinformed film "Jaws". I do not know what my parents were thinking when they brought me and my 2 brothers to watch that movie - my father has always been for the propagation and the instillation at the earliest stage possible of any form of knowledge, but to bring his five-year-old highly impressionable daughter to watch people get dismembered by horrific-looking creatures of the sea? I think that was the first time i actually realized that my parents were fallible... but that's another line of thought I'll expound on in a future entry.
Since then I've formed a distinct dislike for getting myself too deep in any body of saltwater. There have been a handful occasions wherein I managed to put on a pair of fins, mask & snorkel, and happily flippered my way around the Hundred Islands' lovely waters, or in one of Bicol's pretty beaches, but I had to give myself total You-can-do-it! talks (in my head, of course), for most of the night before said particular foray, otherwise I would have not tried it at all. I envy my brother Travis his bravery - he goes caving (spelunking, rather), snorkeling, deep-sea diving, mountain climbing - and it's part & parcel of his job at the department of tourism! He's a born adventurer, that brother of mine, and he's good at it, too. As for myself, I'm a lily-livered yellow-tailed coward of that proverbial county, but only when it comes to sharks.
At the height of my fear of sharks, I have been known to stay out of the water of a gorgeous beach for the whole day's vacation there, looking the fool on dry land, turning up my nose disdainfully at the rest of the party idiotic enough to risk their skins in what was to my mind a body of water teeming with man-hungry starved-out sharks just waiting for the perfect moment to grab a leg or two from the buffet of humans swimming in their very own natural habitat. I wouldn't listen to reason - never mind that sharks were unheard of in the peaceful & pristine beaches of a particular place - there was always a first time!!! So i stayed on dry land, heedless of that wistful but tiny voice in me whispering "but i wanna swim, too..."
Just now I was watching National Geographic's "30 Years of National Geographic Specials", and it covers, well, 30 Years of National Geographic specials... various synopsied documentaries on the beginnings of time, on the survival of the fittest, on nature's funniest moments, on weather, on humans, on animals, and when it came to the shark part, well, I paused it.
It's 6:43 in the morning, the sun's peeking through my kitchen windows and promising a great, dry morning for today. The birds are at it full-force-orchestra. I'm sitting in front of my computer, in the middle of my apartment, which is on the 3rd floor of a building complex surrounded by 10 other such buildings, in the middle of the city, with the nearest body of water around a hundred kilometers away, and
i
still
can't
watch a simple story
(and it isn't even the whole point of the documentary I'm watching, it's just a small part of it)
on
(shudder)
sharks.
My parents & I are going to have a long talk on this, someday. A nice, long chat on very dry land. I just better have my earmuffs ready, because I know my mom’s voice can get quite high-pitched & ear-splitting squeaky when she laughs really loud.
WE CAN HELP!!!
The following are charitable institutions that need all the decent help you may be willing to give - time, money, material resources (old but usable or/and brand new) - all it takes is a phone call! Also, if you have any other such institutions in mind and want them included in this list, please email me at soulcardreader@gmail.com for the details!
(to those who have already sent information, THANK YOU! I hope I got it right, and please just email or text me asap in case I didn't to rectify the situation!)
FRUGAL FINDS
I'm a self-confessed Frugal-Finds-Freak, and I do love it when I find a bargain. On this page I'll be sharing with you various tips, the places where I find my bargains, and other things that have helped me save a lot of money in the long run.
RITZ THRIFT HOUSE, along Roces Ave., in front of the building that houses Papemelrotti & Chocolate Kiss on the 1st floor & Books for Less Bookstore on the 2nd floor. Coming from Tomas Morato, turn left on Roces, a block or so later you see the Papemelrotti building on your right, and Ritz Thrift House is on the left. Here is where I bought the following:
- my dining room set (4 chairs, round table, narra wood with rattan detailing)
- my glassed-in 6-shelf china cabinet
- my old-style multi-shelf vanity dresser
- my 5-shelf 2-drawer enclosed wardrobe
- my 2 chocolate leather club-type armchairs
- my 4-shelf kitchen cabinet
at prices you would not believe - most were a tenth of what could be their original prices, and it wasn't because they were beat-up, scratched and stained to death - all of them I bought second-hand or used, but after I was done with the furniture polish and dust cloth, they looked fine enough to elicit comments such as "Those armchairs must have cost you a fortune!" Well, them armchairs cost me P500, and no joke.
The proprietors of Ritz Thrift House get stock on irregular days, but everyday some lucky fellow gets to acquire another trash-to-treasure little gem - there's a lot of luck involved, though! I try to go there every ten days or so, not only because I'm in need of something, but because if I find something within my budget, and if that something's a quick fixer-upper, I'll buy it, fix it up, and resell it and make a couple of hundred bucks for my efforts!
Ritz's landline is (02)373-2723 - call in advance and ask if any new stock came lately, that way you know there's something for you to consider when you get there.
BOOKS FOR LESS BOOKSTORES - I must admit the prices here can be "steep" for a frugal-finder-freak like me, but the stores' wide-open layout, the thrilling "finds" I've found (they seem to have new stock every 2 weeks!), the very courteous and knowledgeable staff, the airconditioning, and the sales (up to 70% off if you're lucky) are worth it worth it worth it for me to make it a point to go to their Roces branch (above the Papemelrotti building, in front of RITZ THRIFT HOUSE [see above]) at least once a month.
BUY & SELL online -
www.buyandsellph.com is late by as much as 2 weeks compared to the available issue on the newsstands, but it's a great resource for current prices (for comparison & updating information purposes, especially for cars, cellphones & real estate), plus I LOVE the pull-out pages that offer pertinent information on anything, and there's always something new every issue, like the best cafes, computer shops, cellphone models etc!
I'll continue to add on to this as time permits; also, any information you have regarding what best, new or hard-to-find places you know of to get the best deals that you are willing to share, please just drop me a line at soulcardreader@gmail.com and thank you! Be blessed!
